There’s just something special about small businesses

I stopped by Redstone Market & Butcher for their 1-year celebration, and it was more than just shopping…

It was community.
It was connection.
It was local families, vendors, and small business owners all coming together in one place.

And what I love most about this place is what they stand for—they support local businesses by selling their products right inside the store. So every time you shop there, you’re pouring right back into your own community.

They also offer fresh local meats, and y’all… the kitchen
Fresh-made biscuits, pulled pork they smoke right there, and the kind of sides that make you close your eyes after the first bite.

I personally love going there for my spices. It just feels better knowing I’m supporting other small businesses while I shop, and they are amazing.

And can we talk about the customer service for a second? It is top notch. Everyone is so welcoming, so kind, and you can truly feel that they care about the people who walk through their doors.

If you haven’t checked them out yet, you need to. Supporting local isn’t just about buying something… it’s about being part of something.

Watching my daughter fall in love with horses has been pretty incredible. What started as riding lessons has turned into a full blown obsession. 🐎

Which means we are at the barn for lessons in the rain, the blazing Georgia heat, and the kind of cold that makes you question every life decision that led you there. Horse people know there is no such thing as a bad weather day. There are just different layers of jackets.

While other kids are sleeping in or playing video games, she’s pulling on boots and heading out to ride. Watching her chase this dream has honestly been one of the coolest parts of being her mom.

Her big goal is to ride on the Georgia Bulldogs Equestrian team one day. And if determination counts for anything, she’s already halfway there.

What most people don’t see are the early mornings, the muddy boots, the long days, and the quiet moments at the barn. The moments where you realize your kid isn’t just learning how to ride. She’s learning patience, responsibility, and what real commitment really looks like.

And somewhere between brushing horses, tightening saddle straps, and driving home with the smell of hay permanently in the car, you realize these are the moments you’ll remember forever. 💛

5) About $0.68 of every dollar spent locally gets reinvested in your community. This isn't just about keeping money in the same spot. It's about making that money the most effective. When you spend your money inside of your community, it creates an economic synergy. You decide what businesses survive with your hard earned dollars.

4) You create a better place to live. Towns thriving with local, small businesses are just more interesting, culturally vibrant places to live. No one wants to live in a city dominated by national chains and big box stores. Ironically, if you want more variety and specialty options, think smaller. Not bigger.

From stacked burgers and crispy fries to flavors that actually make you say “WOW,” this Athens favorite knows what it’s doing. Perfect for date night, family dinner, or “I don’t feel like cooking” kind of days (the best kind, honestly). When you walk in, you immediately feel welcome, with outdoor tables for a beautiful day, and when it is not freezing outside.

Their cheese curds are crispy little clouds of melty happiness. Crunch on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. The fried cheese curds don’t just exist; they disappear.

Large, mouthwatering burgers that don't mess around, and French fries that you won't be able to resist having just a few of.

Want a sweet treat? Try their brownie and ice cream: a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. It is big enough to share, but you won't want to.

You will leave feeling full and happy, but craving more.

Let’s be honest… the food is amazing, but the service? That’s what makes Groove Burgers feel like home. Our favorite server, Reagan, is the kind of person who remembers your order, makes you feel welcome, and somehow knows exactly when you need a refill.

Mullets are BACK...and for the record, so are home inspections, seller credits, and price reductions. Let's be honest, the housing market is shifting just as quickly as fashion this year.

The reality is that, especially with higher interest rates, buyers have way more leverage to negotiate than they did just a few months ago!

Make sure to work with an experienced agent who can give you all the options -- from buying down rates to negotiating tactics -- to get the home you want.

Big picture? The house & the location are the only constants in real estate. If you can actually get the home you want here in Jefferson, that's the biggest win of all.

Maybe don't trust me on fashion advice, but you can trust me with real estate advice. 🙂

If you spent a day hanging out with me in Jefferson, GA, here’s exactly how it would go.... coffee, carbs, cute shops, and a little sunshine. ☀️

☀️ Morning: Latte at Cream & Shuga with some laughs 😁😁

🍴 Lunch: Grab some pizza from Johnny's Pizza and take it to Jefferson City Park for a little picnic and some pickleball

🛍 Afternoon: Pop into Cheeky Space Dawg House to browse all the cute things you didn’t know you needed.

🍷 Evening: Dinner at Millhouse Station, then ice cream from Swirlee’s Sweets & Frozen Treats to finish the day right.

It’s days like that that remind me why I love calling this town home.
