This row of 1901 Victorians a block from the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, NC, was slated for demolition in the 1970s. Fortunately, someone rescued them, and today they represent the awkward, meaningful cycle of rehabilitation and obsolescence. The one on the right is an AirBnB. The one in the middle belongs to a hobbyist who gives it just enough attention to keep his permits alive.
