MBA: Purchase applications boost weekly mortgage activity
This week’s mortgage landscape reveals a subtle but meaningful uptick: home-mortgage applications rose by 0.8%, thanks to a 2% increase in purchase activity that outpaced a 1% dip in refinances. The average 30-year fixed rate landed at 6.79%, and adjustable-rate options saw their highest activity in five weeks. Refinance share edged down to 41.8%.

I’m excited to see Gwinnett County making strides with an $8.9M federal grant set to impact our community in meaningful ways. This funding will support 54 projects, including down payment assistance for 20 future homeowners and rental aid for more than 300 households. Over 90 affordable housing units will be created, along with expanded Meals on Wheels services and a $1.5M boost to the local food pantry.
