Just an FYI for my neighbors!

Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the City of Augusta has temporarily suspended recycling collection until further notice. The storm has caused widespread debris, and many have unintentionally mixed trash with recyclables, making proper recycling impossible.

The city is focusing on clearing roads, restoring power, and ensuring safety. Please hold onto your recyclables and stay tuned for updates on when services will resume.

Restaurants must have an emergency reopening inspection completed by the Richmond County Health Department prior to opening. As the power comes on, please contact the health department with your plans to re-open at (706)251-7224.

Good to know for our current weather situation.

Just six inches of fast-moving water can knock over an adult. Only eighteen inches of flowing water can carry away most vehicles, including large SUVs.

It is impossible to tell the exact depth of water covering a roadway or the condition of the road below the water.

This is especially true at night when your vision is more limited. It is never safe to drive or walk through flood waters.

Any time you come to a flooded road, walkway, or path, follow this simple rule: Turn Around Don’t Drown.
