I enjoy working with the environmentally sensitive and understand how to create a healthy home. Nancy Guilloteau is a licensed realtor with Rebecca Realty, LLC. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where her love of architecture and home design began, she arrived in Austin in 1986 and has witnessed Austin’s growth and change over the years. She has rented, owned and renovated homes in Tarrytown
, Highland Park West, Northwest Hills, Downtown West, and Bouldin Creek. She loves reimagining rooms and homes to reflect a more efficient use of space and to help buyers see a home’s full potential. She has an eye for identifying older homes with a great potential for renovation, and most recently has embraced the turn-key appeal and contemporary designs offered by new construction. From her home in Bouldin Creek, she enjoys a short commute to the UT campus and Lady Bird Lake, where she starts her days at Texas Rowing Center as a competitive rower. As the mother of two daughters greatly impacted by environmental sensitivities and CIRS, Nancy understands the stress and difficulty associated with finding suitable housing for individuals with this particular need. She prides herself on her knowledge of home performance as a system, ultimately creating and maintaining a healthy living environment. Long before COVID, she was conducting research on building biology and indoor air quality. While green building focuses on energy efficiency, it does not take homeowners’ health into consideration. In fact, newer homes with a tight envelope are great for energy efficiency, but in certain situations, can have disastrous effects on the health of a home’s inhabitants. Older homes, too, can harbor a wicked cocktail of air, moisture, and toxins. Whether you are looking for a new build or are interested in improving the air quality and home system performance of an existing structure, Nancy has relationships with local builders and experts who can help you achieve your goals. She is a professional member of the Building Biology Institute and the International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness (ISEAI). Nancy has worked as a French professor, French Language Program Director, author, and researcher at the University of Texas for 24 years. As a teacher and mentor to so many students over the years, she understands the importance of expertise in one’s subject area, personalization to individualized needs, communication, cooperation, and care. These same skills apply to an effective real estate agent. In addition, her international background as an American and French citizen, gives her a unique cultural perspective and appreciation of the differing needs and expectations of a diverse, and often international, clientele.
