With August temperatures once again reaching levels normally reserved for pizza ovens and the surface of the sun, Texans have reportedly given up on traditional summer clothing and moved on to something more practical: wearable ice.

Fashion experts say the look combines classic Texas style with the very real desire to survive the walk from H-E-B to your truck.

Unfortunately, the accessories have a limited lifespan.

The average ice cowboy hat reportedly lasts about seven minutes outdoors, four minutes in Houston and approximately 11 seconds anywhere west of Abilene.

Still, Texans are embracing the trend.

“It’s fashionable, it’s functional, and when it melts, you’ve already got the water you need to stay hydrated,” one shopper explained while standing in the frozen-food aisle for no apparent reason.

Several Texas boutiques are rumored to be developing an entire collection featuring frozen belt buckles, refrigerated boots and a 10-gallon hat that actually holds 10 gallons of Blue Bell.
