Don’t let your foundation get too thirsty! 🧉
During our hot Texas summers, the soil around your home can dry out, shrink, and pull away from the foundation. When moisture levels change dramatically, the soil can put stress on the foundation and contribute to cracking!
And this isn’t just for homes with grass. Even if you have xeriscaping, rock, gravel, or no sod at all, the soil underneath still needs consistent moisture.
A few things to keep in mind:
• Water around the perimeter of your foundation during longer dry periods (you don’t want to spray directly on the foundation)
• Consistent small amounts of moisture is better than soaking the ground all at once
• Don’t wait until the soil is already pulling away from the house
• Pay extra attention during our long stretches of Texas heat and drought
