One of the most rewarding parts of managing land is seeing something you planted years ago finally come to fruition.
Each year, we put in the work planting annual crops like Chicory, Aeschynomene and Chufa, giving wildlife quality forage.
But then there’s the long game. I planted many of these Chestnuts, Persimmons, Pears, Shumard and Sawtooth oaks 8–10 years ago, and now we’re seeing them produce good crops and watching the wildlife take advantage of them.
None of it happens overnight. But when you start getting trail camera pictures like these, it makes all those years of work worth it.
And when you get to see the next generation enjoy the harvest, the reward is immeasurable.
