Why is my agent asking me to sign a Buyer Representation Agreement before touring homes?

If your Realtor asks you to sign a Buyer Representation Agreement before touring homes, don't worry this is completely normal. In New York it's now a standard part of the home-buying process.

Beginning in August 2024, industry practice changed to require buyers to have a written agreement with their real estate agent before touring a home. The goal is to create more transparency so you understand who represents you, the services you'll receive, and how your agent is compensated.
