Who would have ever thought I would meet a college Student from New York, get married, and get whisked away to beautiful Baldwin?? My husband and I were lucky enough to purchase his family home originally bought by his great grandfather in 1923 and raise our family there. Our three children are 5th generation Baldwinites! I was involved in The Plaza PTA, serving as Historian and Vice president. As
a need became clear, myself and three others formed The Plaza Community Playground Association of which I served as co-president. We successfully raised enough money in a year and a half to build Plaza`s playground. At this time I was providing childcare for neighborhood kids. This allowed me to be home with my own. Eventually I became a licensed realtor, and have been for 20 years. My profession has provided me the opportunity to understand the reasons that people have chosen to sell their Baldwin homes and move, as well as working with families new to the area and being able to show them what I think are the wonderful things about our town. I believe this would allow me to understand what families want and need from our school district. I am proud to say that I am about to begin a third term as president of The Baldwin/Rockville Centre Rotary Club. Our club has been very involved in Baldwin Schools with programs such as dictionaries for every 4th grader, and sponsoring the Rotary Track Meet for over 50 years. I am also a member of the Baldwin Historical Society. My family and I are very involved in our community. This is our home and we don’t plan on leaving it. Both my sons and my husband are Baldwin Firemen. My husband also serves on the board of sanitary District #2. There are so many positive things going on here and so many great people making them happen. I am hoping for the opportunity to serve on our school board and to be a part of keeping the momentum moving ahead, and helping to keep the schools and the community on the same page. Communication between the two is key. I find that often community members feel there is a large separation of the two. I feel that one needs the other, and can only be strongest if that happens. My hope is also that I could be a part of insuring that our schools are seeking out and obtaining the best technology and new programs out there, ensuring the brightest future possible for Baldwin`s children.
