Meet the next generation of Land Escapes, Inc.!
If you’ve worked with us recently, you’ve likely seen Zach Strom out in the field or heard from him in the office. Zach is the oldest son of our owner, Dean Strom, and to say the landscaping business is in his blood is an understatement! He’s quite literally been a part of the 24/7 landscape life since birth.

After earning his business degree from Illinois State University, Zach stepped right back into the family business. He splits his time between managing office operations and working hands-on out in the field.

Zach is the ultimate team player, a hard worker, and he loves learning every facet of the business his dad has built right here in Barrington since 1999. We are so proud to have him driving our team forward!

The Native Plant Spotlight (Hardy Perennials)
Want a gorgeous yard that doesn't require constant babying? The secret is planting varieties native to our Northern Illinois zone. Because they evolved right here in our local soil and climate, they are highly drought-tolerant in July and completely winter-proof in January.

Here are a favorites we love to design with at Land Escapes Inc.:
1. Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea): A Zone 5 staple. They bloom beautifully all summer, love the sun, and attract local butterflies.
2. Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium): A stunning native prairie grass. It handles heavy clay soil beautifully, adds incredible texture to your beds, and turns a gorgeous bronze-orange color in the fall.
