Today BLS (Bureau of Labor & Statistics) released the December 2023 US Jobs Report. The numbers reflect a still relatively strong US economy. Important data to stay on top of as the economic environment of 2024 continues to unfold following a year of significant interest rate hikes. The market has started to anticipate a dovish Fed in 2024, I remain cautiously optimistic however still maintain some skepticism about just how aggressive rate cutting COULD BE in 2024. Only time will tell, and although the US Jobs Report tends to be a better lagging statistic than a current economic snapshot, it is still important economic data to interpret and understand in regards to interest rates and where the economy could be heading in 2024.
