The Resolution Trust Corporation was created in 1989 to clean up the worst banking crisis in American history before 2008.

The RTC handled assets from nearly 1,000 failed savings and loans. Disposed of over $400 billion in inventory. Officially dissolved in 1995.

But a small percentage of that inventory never finished moving.

Environmental contamination. Contested receivership claims. Files that got lost in transfer. Properties stuck in legal limbo for 30+ years.

Some of it is still clearing right now — at 30% or more below market value.

This is the back end of a 40-year-old banking crisis still creating opportunity for patient capital. 🏦📉➡️💰

Goldman Sachs owned a subprime mortgage servicer from 2007 to 2011.
