If you're like me, these dark days of January and February have you itching for a getaway. Hawaii, the desert, Mexico...these are ideal destinations, but what if you can only sneak away for a quick day or two? The Posthotel, a spa and wellness resort located in central Washington's Bavarian village of Leavenworth, is the perfect winter staycation refresh.
Just two and a half hours from Seattle on either I-90 or Hwy 2, when you pull into the Post's cobblestone drive you'll feel like you're stepping out of your car in Europe. With architecture and decor that evoke Swiss-German Alpine chalet vibes, this wellness sanctuary will win you over in every way. The gorgeous guest rooms are perfectly appointed, each complete with a cozy fireside sitting area and a freestanding marble bathtub. Slip on your bathing suit, robe and slippers and spend your day lazing between the ultra-tranquil spa with its full menu of services, and the saltwater, swim-out pool and wellness center offering a variety of saunas and steam rooms and two cool plunge pools that work in harmony to leave you feeling like your best, most relaxed self. My husband and I have made a tradition of sneaking away to the Posthotel to celebrate our anniversary each February for the past few years. It can be hard to get reservations within a few months of your say, but I've found the following tips help ensure we have another stay to look forward to each year...
1) Book waaaay ahead. We book our stay for the next year at check-out.
2) You'll have better luck if you can make it work to sneak away mid-week - weekend stays book out very far in advance.
3) If you're trying to go with short-notice, call frequently and ask if there have been any cancellations. There is a cancellation period of seven days, so sometimes a room will come available in the days or weeks leading up to that time.
Regardless of when or how you're able to snag a room, do yourself a favor and get this getaway on your calendar ASAP!
