Focus on the actual forecast and not the colors from the Storm Prediction Center.

Whether we are in a level one, two, three, or four doesn't change the forecast.

There remain some questions about whether or not we will have storms between 4 AM and 12 PM tomorrow.

The forecast is that a few thunderstorms could become severe with high wind gusts, hail, and perhaps a few tornadoes. That won't change based on whether the SPC increases or decreases the color threat level.

A severe weather event is likely on Monday afternoon and night. Another risk on Tuesday.

I will be able to access a lot more data today. The high-resolution guidance will be available later this morning.

This data will increase confidence in the final outcome of this event.

There remain significant questions about the timing of severe weather, the placement of the highest-risk zone, and the type of severe weather (supercells vs. a line of storms).

The Storm Prediction Center continues to expand the higher-risk zone for severe weather into more of our area.

They have once again expanded the pink zone. This is for damaging wind.

Don't get caught up in the exact placement of the colors. Severe weather doesn't always follow our colors. A tornado in the red zone is the same as a tornado in the pink zone.

Large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible.

The most likely time of concern will be 4 PM into the overnight hours. Perhaps past midnight.

The concerns will be 70+ mph wind gusts, golf-ball-sized hail, and tornadoes. Some of the tornadoes in the region could be EF2+ in strength.

Eventually, a mixture of supercells and a line of storms will develop.

Review your severe weather safety plans.

Have multiple ways of receiving your severe weather warnings.
