From a Real Estate standpoint, I think one of the most encouraging parts of this announcement is the opportunity for something NEW.

New Riverside has been highly successful, but much of the existing inventory was built around a relatively consistent group of floor plans and product types.

Bringing in a new product creates the potential for fresh architecture, updated layouts, newer design trends and additional choices for buyers who already love this part of Bluffton but want something different from what is currently available.

More variety in housing product can help broaden the buyer pool, create renewed interest in the area and strengthen New Riverside’s long-term appeal rather than simply adding more of the same.

Yesterday, our REALTORS® voted to make history!

After nearly two years of due diligence, difficult conversations, countless meetings, collaboration and an extraordinary amount of work behind the scenes, the members of the Hilton Head Area REALTORS® and Beaufort-Jasper County REALTORS® voted to move forward together as one organization:

Southern Lowcountry REALTORS®

This is much more than the unification of two REALTOR® associations. It is the beginning of a stronger, more unified voice for real estate professionals, property owners and the communities we serve throughout the Southern Lowcountry.

By bringing our people, resources, advocacy and leadership together, we have an incredible opportunity to build an organization capable of having an even greater impact locally, at the State House and Nationally.

I am incredibly proud to have been part of that process and grateful to everyone from both associations who gave their time, experience and perspective to get us here. This was truly a team effort.

Yesterday was also personally meaningful for me but Its about so many others...

Senator Tom Davis, whose character, conviction, and commitment to public service has made him The Voice for the . He has been a tremendous advocate and an example of what it means to lead with principal.

Our Association President JoAnne MoscaMilana Rizza, and immediate past president Michelle Garbade, Realtor, collectively lead us through this historic moment with grace and purpose.

Andy Twisdale is someone particularly important to me. He is the man who first opened the door and gave me an opportunity to step into leadership and service. Someone had to open that first door for me and I have never forgotten it.

Since then, I have learned that leadership isn’t about having a title. It is about showing up, doing the work when nobody is watching, being willing to have difficult conversations, and hopefully leaving the organization a little stronger for the people who come after you.

Yesterday, one chapter ended.

Today, we begin building Southern Lowcountry REALTORS®.

Morning light moves across the marsh and through the home. Massive porches create a front-row seat to changing tides, wildlife, summer storms, and the sound of rain on a metal roof.
