Originally built in the 1860s, this historic Boston Firehouse was developed into condominiums in the mid-2000s. When we found it, the space had been surprisingly neglected by its previous owners. We took on a multifaceted renovation; we updated or replaced many systems, restored the exterior masonry and interior hardwood floors, replaced much of the roof and the decks, renovated the master bathroom and bedroom, commissioned custom furniture (check out the Ping Pong table!) and decorated the interior. This home offers an expansive space in which to entertain, numerous unique details which speak to its history, as well as a sense of security and seclusion in an otherwise bustling neighborhood. We hope its new owners will enjoy many happy years in it!

Welcome to phase two of our Winter Hill project. These new construction town homes are nearly identical, with a couple minor differences. New construction is rare in the city due to few open spaces left to build on!
This small lot was full of challenges but we were up to the task. The lot required a very thoughtful site layout due to strict setbacks and a requirement to place the main entry point on the side of the lot. With a narrow footprint, we had to find a way to build using the available height but still have a house that was light, airy, open and with a nice flow. Take a look and let us know what you think!

Part of a three unit development, phase one encompassed a gut renovation of a single family home in Somerville, MA. Because land is at a premium in this sought-after town, and most properties are non-conforming to current zoning requirements, we meticulously rebuilt and upgraded what most sane developers would consider a tear-down. We have limited photos of the home prior to construction, but many photos of it during the process.

Phase two will be a townhouse in the backyard. We'll be updating our timeline with photos, so check back soon!

It's been a while since we have posted because we've been so busy! OpenHomesllc has three new properties in development and one in planning...here is a sneak peek at our new construction project going up in Somerville. The roof is going to be stunning!

Our latest project was in North Cambridge - a two family townhouse with good bones, which hadn’t been updated in decades. What it did have, however, was a spacious backyard, something rarely seen in Cambridge.
Set on a quiet street, this property was the perfect candidate for a full gut rehab with an addition to the back of the house. We incorporated a design that was sleek yet warm and cozy, with all the modern amenities, such as: super efficient on-demand boilers for hot water and heat, full LED lighting throughout, an integrated and expandable home automation system, a suite of kitchen appliances from Fisher & Paykal, and so much more. The yard would likewise get a full makeover, and each unit received custom built fire pits, constructed out of field stones reclaimed from the existing foundation. The project took six months of planning, another 10 months for construction, and lots of attention to detail... but it was well worth the effort!

Check out our latest project, a condo conversion in Somerville. Big thanks to North America Development for turning it around in 9 months, and to Santana Properties Team for getting both units under agreement in 5 days!

We came upon this two family home, and saw a lot of potential. We initially planned on replacing all of the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical, making some minor floor plan changes, and then converting it into two condominiums. But as we dug further into the project, we decided that with a little more effort, we could make this great, rather than merely good. We were really happy with the results, and so were the new owners... We accepted offers on both units after just 5 days on market!

Here's a sneak preview of our latest project: a full gut renovation plus an addition to an existing townhouse in Cambridge. The mild weather has allowed us to put finishing touches on the amazing backyard, and capture some photos before winter finally sets in! Happy Holidays everybody!

Our full-gut renovation in Cambridge is in full swing. We are adding an addition and building a new foundation. A lot of thought has gone into this design and we can't wait to see it come together.
