People still want to move to Florida - but they are getting more careful. 💵
Florida Realtors recently reported that consumer confidence slipped in May as inflation and gas prices continued to put pressure on household budgets. Two-thirds of consumers surveyed said they are cutting back on spending because of higher prices.
But here is the interesting part: interest in buying existing homes 🏠has held up better than overall consumer confidence.
For people thinking about moving to Florida, that says a lot.
The desire to relocate is still there. People still want the Florida 🌴 lifestyle, warmer weather, coastal access, master-planned communities, retirement options, and overall quality of life.
But the decision is becoming more financial than emotional.
Today, buyers are not just looking at the price of the home. They are looking at the full cost of moving and living here - mortgage payment, insurance, property taxes, HOA or CDD fees, utilities, furniture, appliances, gas, and everyday expenses.
That is especially important in Florida, where many home purchases are tied to relocation, retirement, second homes, and lifestyle-driven moves.
The takeaway is simple: Florida demand has not disappeared, but buyers are thinking harder.
Some may delay the move. Some may adjust their budget. Some may choose a different area. Others may become more selective about the type of home and community they choose.
If you are considering a move to Florida, the goal should not just be finding a house. It should be finding the right place, the right lifestyle, and the right financial fit. 🏠
