Fall is finally here.
Did you know spring and fall are the perfect times to aerate your lawns while temperatures are still cool?
The philosophy behind aeration is simple: holes are opened up in the soil better to allow air, water, seed, and fertilizer.
There are two effective methods: liquid (new) and mechanical (traditional).
Neither is complicated, but mechanical is still the standard.
Mechanical aeration is very basic. A machine (looks like a big push mower) goes along and punches a 3/4" wide hole in the ground, pulling out the soil in that spot (called a "plug").
The more small holes, the more opportunity for air, water, seed, and fertilizer to enter into the soil overall. Voila.
