Memorial Day.

A day to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. The fields, the forests, the farms, the family ground we have the privilege of working and selling and stewarding, all of it is held in trust because of them.

We honor their sacrifice today.

A million and a half REALTORS® work in this country. About two thousand of them belong to the Realtors Land Institute. Seven hundred and forty-nine of those carry the ALC.

You can spot a land pro by what they don't say. They don't oversell a creek bottom or undersell a ridgeline. They know where the line is, where the easement runs, and what the soil's been doing for the last forty years.

The ALC is the longer road. It runs through six LANDU courses, a comprehensive exam, the National Land Conference, and a portfolio that has to stand on its own. RLI membership is the trailhead. Member rates, the national network, and a Tennessee chapter that has walked candidates through every step of it.

Worth taking, if land is what you sell.

🎧 A good listen for your windshield time.

Episode 61 of the Voices of Land podcast features one of our own: Bob Turner, ALC, RLI Past President and longtime Tennessee land pro. Host Justin Osborn, ALC sits down with Bob to dig into one of the most misunderstood asset classes in our business — RV and mobile home parks.

Bob walks through how a $10 deal during the 2009 downturn launched his first park, why infrastructure (think underground sewer systems) is the real due diligence battleground, and what most investors miss when they're staring only at the cash flow numbers. It's a candid conversation about risk, return, and what long-term ownership actually looks like.

Whether you've got a client asking about a park listing or you're curious about diversifying your own portfolio, this one's worth the time.

Search "Voices of Land" wherever you listen.

Meet your 2026 Tennessee Chapter President: Henry Walker.

Henry's roots in land run deep. By the age of ten, he was learning the ropes on his family's Mississippi farm raising registered Polled Hereford cattle. By his teens, he managed a herd of more than fifty head and earned a place in the 4-H Honor Club. Lessons in accountability, integrity, and showing up every day have stuck with him ever since.

After studying at Mississippi State and spending thirty years leading teams in manufacturing and supply chain management, Henry channeled all of that experience into real estate. In 2019, he and his wife Lisa launched the Walker Luxury and Land Team in Franklin, specializing in large tract land, equestrian estates, and investment acreage.

Off the clock, Henry and Lisa have raised eight children together and are now happily (and thoroughly) outnumbered by their grandkids.

Now he leads the chapter, working alongside our membership to advance the standards of land brokerage across the state. We're proud to have him at the helm.

Looking to build on your knowledge?
Two RLI webinars worth blocking off your calendar.

June 25 → Get the latest on tax and land policy from DC, plus the issues that took center stage at the June REALTOR Legislative Meetings.

July 22 → Conservation easements come up more than most of us would like. Learn how they impact title, what to flag for buyers and sellers, and how easement incentives can actually move a deal forward.

Both at 1 pm Central. Free for RLI members!
