I'm pretty pumped about these virtual retail mock-ups using the 430 South Broadway building as the model! I think that the space has huge potential, especially when you consider dividing it into 3-4 different retail concepts. It'd be profitable for the building owner, would be economical for the retail tenant, and would be beneficial for each building tenant thanks to shared traffic. Tell me what you think of the mock-ups! I chose an apothecary, a menswear store, a plant shop, a book shop, a women's boutique, an art supply store, and a community art studio as the concepts to base these off of. What would you like to see?

When I was a kid, my family had a creek just like this one in our back field. I can't begin to tally the many hours my siblings and I spent playing in it. We built dams, rafts, huts, and "cooked" muddy recipes in our imaginary creek side kitchen. It's something I can always revisit with a smile when I think of things I loved most about growing up.

I've long admired the approach and the unwavering enthusiasm that Jason Duff has for his hometown of Bellefontaine, Ohio. When a downtown building becomes available in his town, he takes the time to pose a sincere question to his audience. It's a simple question, but one that prompts people to share their ideas. He asks people what they would love to see take up business residence in the empty property.
So, I'm going to copycat the brilliance of Mr. Duff and ask the same question! What would you like to see in this awesome downtown space? Feedback and ideas are more than welcome, please don't hesitate to share your thoughts!
On a related note, I've had professional renderings created for this space. The first floor is massive (over 7000 sq. ft!) and could be challenging for a single retailer to fill. These specific renderings illustrate the first floor being divided into 3 charismatic retail spaces. Even with 3 retailers utilizing floorspace, there is more than ample room for an open market space (think Short North Market in downtown Columbus) for shoppers to meander through. I'll be sharing more rendering concepts throughout this week, so please let me hear your clever ideas!
