When the Lord laid on my heart to open In the Stillness, He impressed upon me that people needed a quiet place to escape the busyness of the world and to truly rest and hear from Him. My purpose was to create a cabin where worries were put on pause and people could recharge, marriages could reset, and families could reconnect, if only for a weekend. I was literally in tears today as I read through our guest book and saw what God has done through our little cabin. I hope every guest feels the prayers that are prayed over them during their time with us. Join us in praying God continues to send us guests that need a place of rest and allow us to minister to them during their stay.

When we started this short-term rental journey, one of my biggest prayers was that the Lord would give us wisdom for all the things that were far beyond the knowledge of this nurse and teacher.

We knew there would be so much about running a business that we weren’t equipped for and had never encountered before. So I began praying James 1:5—asking God, in His generosity, to give us the wisdom we needed.

And He has.

Sometimes that wisdom has come through placing the right people in our path—people with knowledge and experience in areas where we had none. Other times, it’s come through a YouTube video teaching us how to change the burners on a grill. 😂

There are days when we find ourselves surprised—but somehow not surprised—as we’re creating websites, starting LLCs, learning business finances, fixing toilets, troubleshooting equipment, and figuring out things we never imagined we’d need to know.

Every once in a while, we look at each other and wonder, “How in the world did we get here?”

And then I’m reminded: God has been equipping us all along.

He never promised we would begin this journey knowing everything we needed to know. He promised that when we lacked wisdom, we could ask Him—and He would give it generously.

And He has been faithful to do exactly that. ❤️
