Ever walked into a room and felt unsettled… even though it looked beautiful?

There’s a reason for that - and it goes deeper than design trends or décor choices.

Your environment is constantly influencing how you feel, think, and function. And most of it happens subconsciously.

This week in The Nourished Nest, I’m talking about biophilic design from a completely different perspective - one that goes beyond plants and natural light.

We’re looking at how each space in your home (or workplace) can support your mental wellness… or quietly disrupt it.

Because creating a healthy home isn’t just about what you bring in.
It’s also about what you take away.

If you’ve been wanting your space to feel better—not just look better—this is for you.

Greetings, fellow readers, There’s a moment I’ve been thinking about lately - one that doesn’t get talked about enough in design. It’s not when a space looks beautiful.

I absolutely love ❤️ the ceiling trim/detail in this photo. I have a client who's looking for creative ideas to separate her open concept kitchen and living room area, and this idea appealed to both of us. Her ceilings are so high and have no definition.

The stained wood trim adds warmth to the rooms, and it makes the rooms much more interesting. Don't you agree?

We can't wait to see how her ceiling design comes out!

DM me if you have any design challenges you'd like to discuss. 😊

Happy Spring, my friends! Look at my cute and handsome assistant, Biscuit, with these beautiful azaleas perfectly complementing his golden fur.💕

Last week, I had a small moment to take a break and stroll around the neighborhood with him and we couldn’t help ourselves but stop in our tracks and take a few photos of these spring moments Azaleas blooming and simply showing off their natural beauty.

Sometimes, it’s these little pauses in our day that bring us back to ourselves even just for a moment.

Hope you’re finding your own small spring moments this week, like I did. 😊

Happy Easter, my friends! I love this photo of me and my assistant, which was taken Easter morning at the beach. ❤️🐾

For those who celebrate this holiday, I hope you all enjoyed your day yesterday! I had a wonderful day taking a break from work, spending time with family, thinking about new beginnings, hope, and forgiveness, and spending time in nature. ☺️

Spring is finally here! I'm so excited. Couldn't resist buying this cute annual (Calandiva) to put in my container pot. Love the delicate coral color petals.

This is just a start. I'm sure I'll have a few more trips to Lowe's before the month is out. 😊

I strategically placed this flower pot on my front steps. Flowers totally cheer me up when I come home from a long day. Does this work for you too?

✨ Our Latest Blog: Design That Does More With Less: The Power of Passive Interiors ✨

We’ve been taught that creating a sustainable home means adding more. Smart systems. New materials. The latest upgrades.

But what if the most impactful design choices aren’t about adding anything at all? 🌿

Passive interior design shifts the focus.
It’s not about what you bring into your home—
it’s about how you use what’s already there.

A truly sustainable home isn’t just filled with solutions.
It’s designed to work with you—quietly, intentionally, and beautifully.

This week’s blog explores how thoughtful, strategic design can transform your space using less energy, fewer resources, and more intention. If you’re ready for a home that feels lighter, more aligned, and easier to live in… this is for you.

✨ Our Latest Blog: Redefining What “Interesting” Means in Sustainable Interior Design ✨

We’ve been taught that “interesting” in design means bold. Trend-forward. Eye-catching.

But what if interesting isn’t loud at all? 🌿

In sustainable interior design, interesting doesn’t rely on flawless finishes or fast trends. It embraces patina. It values craftsmanship. It honors the full lifecycle of what we bring into our homes — from sourcing and production to longevity and eventual reuse.

A truly meaningful home isn’t just styled. It’s shaped by intention.

This week’s blog explores why the most compelling spaces aren’t the ones that shout the loudest — they’re the ones that deepen over time. If you’re craving a home that feels grounded, collected, and built to last, this conversation is for you.

✨ Our Latest Blog: Your Home Has a Carbon Story — Do You Know What It’s Saying? ✨

Your home may look beautiful on the surface… but have you ever stopped to consider the story beneath it? 🌿

Every piece in your space — from flooring to furnishings — carries a hidden carbon narrative shaped by sourcing, production, transportation, and longevity. And whether we realize it or not, we’re continuing that story with every purchase, every renovation, and every design decision we make.

This week’s blog explores how sustainability isn’t about seasonal swaps or surface-level updates. It’s about understanding the life cycle of what we bring into our homes — and choosing materials, craftsmanship, and layouts that prioritize durability, health, and intention.

If you’re ready to create a home that feels grounded, meaningful, and built to last, this one’s for you.

What if the healthiest upgrade to your home isn’t what you think it is?

I just returned from KBIS 2026 in Orlando, where the future of kitchen and bath design was on full display — and one thing is clear:

Sustainability and wellness are no longer “nice to have.” They’re leading innovation.

From induction cooking that improves indoor air quality…
To smart water monitoring systems…
To low-VOC cabinetry and responsibly sourced materials becoming the new standard…

The industry is shifting in a powerful way.

And I’m always investing time in learning, vetting, and studying these advancements so I can bring the very best — not just the most beautiful — solutions back to my clients.

I share my biggest takeaways (and what they mean for homeowners) in my latest article.

👉 Click to read the full post — and if you're planning a kitchen or bath renovation, send me a message. Let’s design something that supports your health, your lifestyle, and the planet.

Wow! What a first day at the kitchen and bath expo (KBIS) in Orlando. I was so fortunate to be able to join the Interior Design Community on their tour. Laurie and Shannon brought us to some amazing exhibitors with beautiful products - exhibitors that I probably wouldn't have found on my own! As usual, my mind is blown by all the new kitchen and bath products and new technologies.

I'll share more with you soon! Off to attend day two. 😊

Why am I smiling? Because I know I'm going to sunny and warm Florida tomorrow for kitchen and bath design education and inspiration for a week. Can't wait!

I absolutely love learning about design, technology, and manufacturers so I can be a better resource to my clients. Looking forward to sharing some cool and beautiful introductions with you all. 😊
