This has been a labor of love. We couldn’t be more excited for April!

Hi y'all. April here. With great pleasure (and a whole bunch of butterflies in my stomach), we can announce that Dare County conducted their final inspection of the new space today. We passed and can start moving in this weekend!

Perhaps now would be a great time to say how much we appreciate Ty Vayette and Tom Hardee of SeaQuest Construction. If it wasn't for those guys and their awesome crew, we would be closed in 2021 too. Huge thanks to Rob and Laura at the Swell Motel (who are leasing this space to us) for all their hard work in helping us get into the building. And we appreciate Wayland Jennette, the county's representative (building inspector) who worked with our contractor to get the property up to code and safe for the shopping public (and our cats). There are a bunch of subcontractors I wish I could thank as well, but I really don't know who they are! Except for Kenny at C-Breeze who did our heat and AC work. Once my adrenaline goes back to normal, I'll add to this list!

Looking forward to seeing our friends again!

Days are getting longer, the air is warmer, and that means summer is right around the corner. As we begin a new season, we also begin a new way of living. So much has changed in the world, but what hasn’t changed is our desire to see our friends and family. To shake hands and to hug each other tight. Through the years many of our visitors to Hatteras island have become like family to us and we want you to know that we have missed you. We cannot wait to welcome you back.

We all have a connection to this wonderful island, created by the memories of our experiences here on Hatteras. Close your eyes, take a relaxing breath and it’s easy enough to hear the crashing waves, the cry of the gulls, to smell the ocean air and to see the smiles of those waiting to welcome you. Your families have been visiting us for generations and we are honored that each year you choose to return. Simply put, we say thank you for allowing us to be part of your memories. We hope you continue to make wonderful memories on Hatteras island.

This year we are asking you to please share your memories, your stories and your photos with us. The Hatteras Island Business Association is launching our campaign for the summer of 2020. Please share your memories, old & new, along with your photos on Facebook and Instagram.

Life is changing, sometimes for the better, sometimes not, but what will never change is the southern hospitality that Hatteras has always been known for.
