Here’s a bit of an origin story for you
Over a year ago, I was working as a bartender. I served customers while simultaneously making drinks for the whole restaurant. It must’ve been a busy night or it may have been mid-rush and a server comes to me and asks if we had bleu cheese stuffed olives for our martinis. The short answer was no- but if you know me, that’s probably not all I said.
Weeks go by and again-
“Do we have bleu cheese stuffed olives?”
I responded “No, but you know what- fine, I’ll go make some and I’m going to figure out who the heck this guy is that insists on these bleu cheese stuffed olives.”
That guy is now not only a friend, but he’s my broker.
I remember graduating GVSU with my Bachelor’s in Social Work and I was eager to find a job using my degree. I searched and applied to the few jobs in that field that I thought offered a sustainable wage, but most of those job couldn’t even match what I was making working in a restaurant.
When I explained that to my mom, she said “Well what are you going to do? Do you think you’re just going to meet someone and they’ll just offer you an amazing job?”
Well, I didn’t really have a better plan so, yeah, I sort of did. I had faith that someday the right person would see me, recognize my work ethic, and that the right door would open in my favor. I especially had to believe it then because there’s very few things I love to say more than “See, I told you.” with a big ole smirk across my face.
After talking with Geoff (the persistent bleu cheese olive guy) time & time again I was convinced that he truly believed in me, so I went and got my license. But what I didn’t know is that I wasn’t just getting my license- I got a team of amazing & supportive agents, mentors, and friends that continue to help me grow each & everyday as a realtor.
So, here I am! Celebrating my first of many real estate transactions to come, and I couldn’t be more grateful ❤️😊
