All people who love horses will understand this. Where is your happy place?

❤️ There's a version of me that the world rarely sees...
where my heart feels lighter and my mind finds peace...
where the weight on my shoulders begins to fall away...
and the worries I've carried don't feel quite so heavy that day.

I'm quieter there, with the horses and hay...
where the noise of the world slowly fades away...
I don't need answers, I don't need to explain...
why some days are sunshine and others are rain.

I find comfort in horse breathe, in warm, gentle eyes...
in the smell of the leather and wide open skies...
in the soft, steady presence of a horse standing near...
who asks for no reasons and doesn't judge tears.

Out there, I can breathe... I can finally let go...
of the things I've been carrying that nobody knows...
I can laugh a little louder or cry if I must... with my boots in the dirt and hay in my hair.

The world says be strong every day...
that I keep it together, whatever comes my way...
but the barn never asks me to be more than I am...
and there's something so healing in knowing I can.

For a little while, I'm not everything to everyone else...
I'm simply a woman finding my way back to myself...
not fixing, not rushing, not trying to be strong...
just standing in the place where I've belonged all along.

And when it's time to leave, and I walk through that door...
I carry a little less weight than before...
my troubles are waiting, and the world hasn't changed...
but somehow my heart feels better arranged.

There's a version of me that only exists at the barn...
where the world can't quite reach me or do quite as much harm...
and I swear that my horses, in their own quiet way...
know exactly which pieces of me need saving that day. ❤️

The older I get, the more I understand why people begin choosing quiet gardens, good books, slow mornings, baking and long walks over constant noise.

It’s not that life becomes less interesting.

You simply start realizing that peace is worth protecting.

You stop needing to be everywhere, hear everything or keep up with everyone.

Sometimes, a quiet day, a warm meal, a good book and a little time alone can feel like more than enough.

Maybe growing older isn’t about wanting less from life.

Maybe it’s about finally knowing what deserves your attention.

Calhan High School has been selected as part of the 2026 Denver Broncos High School Game of the Week Tour for the matchup between the Calhan Bulldogs and Haxtun on Friday, September 11.

Fans can look forward to an unforgettable Friday Night Lights experience featuring Broncos Alumni, Broncos Cheerleaders, Miles the Mascot, Super Bowl Trophies, giveaways, photo opportunities, and more.

The Denver Broncos Foundation will also donate $2,500 to the Calhan football program!

We are incredibly excited to welcome the Denver Broncos to our community and showcase the pride, passion, and tradition of Calhan football. You won't want to miss this special night! 🏈

The world spent years pushing screens into classrooms.

Tablets replaced textbooks. Digital assignments replaced handwritten notes. Schools were told that the future of education was sitting behind a screen.

Now some European countries are starting to reverse course.

Sweden, Finland, Norway, France, Italy, and Denmark are all moving away from heavy classroom digitalization and bringing back something many schools thought was disappearing: printed books, handwriting, and traditional reading.

And this shift is not happening because of nostalgia.

It is happening because researchers have found that writing by hand and reading physical books can improve memory, concentration, and understanding compared with relying only on digital devices.

Sweden was one of the first countries to change direction. In 2023, its Ministry of Schools paused the push for mandatory tablet use and redirected hundreds of millions of kronor toward printed textbooks.

Then other countries followed.

Denmark committed 540 million kroner to replace tablets with books, sending thousands of new printed copies into classrooms and moving toward a plan to make schools completely mobile-free by 2027.

France and Italy have already taken steps to limit smartphone use in primary and middle schools, bringing back paper planners and more traditional pencil-and-paper activities.

And in Scandinavia, the change has been widespread.

Norway reports that most primary schools have removed mobile devices from learning spaces, while Finland introduced similar restrictions in 2024.

For years, the assumption was that more technology would automatically create better education.

Now some of Europe’s most advanced education systems are asking a different question:

What if the best tool for learning was something students have used for centuries?

A book. A pencil. And the ability to focus.
