? Have you been in your attic lately?

Some of my worst finds have been while doing inspections in attics. All horizontal surfaces (drywall) + any amount of moisture x warmer temps under the insulation = a perfect breeding ground for mold.

Here are a couple things to look for...

1) Any of your vents that don't properly terminate to the outside, creating excess humidity.

2) Inspect near any water sources, especially if you have HVAC in the attic.

3) Some types of insulation can hide water spots very well so take a good flashlight and concentrate on areas below where pipes, hoses, etc terminate to the roof. Look closely for water streaks down the pipes and examine all 90 degree elbows.

4) Always be careful where you step and wear a mask - preferably full PPE!

Something brewing... I know so many of you have followed our mold journey over the last few years. We are so grateful for the prayers and support over that time. We're still very much on a journey to heal but are constantly making progress in the right direction! Over these few years, my eyes have been opened to the world of mold inspection and how critical of a step it is to diagnosing issues in the home and nailing down exactly the steps families need to take to get well. Over the last few months I've been working on certifications, training, and equipping myself to be able to conduct my own professional mold inspections. I've also partnered with great laboratories and am using only top of the line equipment.

I'm excited to be starting this journey to help people find some freedom from the environmental issues that are making them sick... in fact, that is the name of our new company "Mold Freedom".

During this soft-launch, I'm looking for friends/family/referrals that would be interested in a free mold inspection. I'm confident in my ability, but I need experience to get my processes, business software, etc dialed in. These inspections run about 3-4 hours and include samples (if requested) at my cost. Each inspection includes a detailed report, recommendations, and extensive lab report data with interpretation and next steps.

I'd love the privilege of inspecting your home, even if you don't believe you have a problem, it can be a great opportunity to learn more about your home and steps you can take to prevent mold in the future.

Took a stab at sharing some of our story from the last few years and what God has been teaching me personally through it. I never wanted this to be my story, much less share it with the world, but I hope that it can be an encouragement to some degree. Still processing, still very much a work in progress, but hopeful that the Lord will use it.

As many of you know, we have been through a pretty significant health journey over the last few years that affected every member of our family. What you may or may not know about our story is that our health issues were caused in large part by a toxic mold problem in our previous home. It is a long and complex story and even though most members of our family are 80% better, our lives truly will never be the same. In short, it was devastating, but by God's grace, we survived and are on a road to healing.

It's taken over a year to even begin to process the things we went through, be able to emotionally confront some of the trauma, and be ready to share certain parts of the story. For quite some time, it has been on our hearts to somehow help families that are on their own mold journeys and dealing with the extreme health symptoms that can come from toxic mold exposure. We made a lot of mistakes along the way and if we can even help one family understand the seriousness of mold and prevent going through what our family did, it would be worth our time.

From word of mouth alone, we've already been able to walk alongside over a dozen families that are in various stages of their own mold journeys. Nearly every week Lori is being contacted by a new family that has questions about mold and asking for help on what steps they should take. We've taken this as a sign from God that we have been entrusted with the responsibility of ministering to people that are going through suffering due to mold.

So... long story short, we've decided to set up a basic website and start making some informational videos on the topic of toxic mold exposure. We started with a video that shares some of our story.

Our goal is simply to help as many people as possible. If you or someone you know has questions about mold, has unusual symptoms and you suspect your environment, or know someone that could simply benefit by getting a 2nd opinion, we would love to be a free resource.
