Road trips through Texas always seem to get better when you find a town that still knows how to feed people right. In West, that means stopping for kolaches, and not the kind you grab once in a while, but the kind that make you reroute a drive.

You can almost picture the early morning rhythm, with bakery cases full of fruit-filled pastries and sausage tucked into soft dough, the kind of snack that travels well but rarely makes it far. The Czech influence is right there in the food, plain as day.

Places like this keep a little piece of history on the table without making a big fuss about it. I’m glad there are still towns where a pastry stop can turn into the best part of the trip. 👇👇
