Endless swimming ✅
House destroyed ✅
So many snacks ✅
Only one of them bled ✅

We pulled out our old record player and for whatever reason W has insisted on playing The Beatles on repeat all day, every day… Forever the Yellow Submarine Summer 🫶🏻

My love affair with dried flowers continues 💋 Hard to replicate the visual interest yet simplicity and elegance of natural elements… layered and layered. May this be inspiration for holiday table settings 🌲 [One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in!]

4 hours a week this room looks good - between my cleaner leaving and the big boys coming home… Then it becomes a couch trampoline park, a batting cage for golf club baseball, a million Legos perfectly underfoot, miscellaneous clothing and puzzle pieces everywhere, and a snack or two ground into the rug…

I don’t know why this room works but it just does. I found these custom teal sofas on marketplace right after we moved in thinking they’d be a short term fix (having sold all of our furniture). I don’t even like teal 😂 but somehow they stayed and somehow I layered in more teal to compliment them (fireplace art). I pieced together black/white/mahogany and natural greenery to tie it together with the rest of the house.

The best part is 100% of the kid $hit can be concealed (in the cabinets) allowing us an adult-feeling home, yet they have a space they can run wild. My greatest accomplishment: no TV in here 🙌🏻 Swipe for real life 👉🏻

(I’m getting the itch to redo it though so stay tuned…)

Everyone needs a good therapy chair moment in their space 💆🏼‍♀️ This is mine, tucked in a corner of my office. Ideal for long catch ups with friends, day dreaming, cuddly 1x1’s with out of control children. Visualizing, journaling, manifesting, and my latest obsession - reading coffee table books. Not just flipping through them but actually reading them. I get through about 2 pages a week right now 😂 but it’s my fave 💓🎨

**Key elements to recreate: deliciously comfortable chair (+ ottoman) or chaise, throw pillow for added support, cozy throw blanket, reading light & side table. And of course an outlet and phone charger nearby 😉 Ideally a great view and if not possible a cool piece of art should do it 👌🏻

A peek at our dining room at my favorite time of day 💫 A few more edits in the works, but for now it’s nice to walk by… as we’ve only ever used it 3x in 2 years 🌿 A great table for folding laundry though…

We’re embarking on a boys bedroom shuffle but for the time being this is Westley’s 4th bedroom in 4 years… and the second one with an American flag 🇺🇸 Having grown up on the East Coast I’ve always had a love for traditional Americana design and I sought to bring it into this space. We painted from top to bottom, put in recessed lighting, took the door off his closet to make it a book nook (later post), and furnished it. This was the first space I tackled and it brings me joy every time I walk into it… Thinking I should tweak it slightly before Hudson takes it over 🥰💙

Approximately nothing went according to plan today…anyone else? Days like these require I put my own agenda aside and just be grateful for the small things… like my most prized artificial tree pictured here 🌿

Maybe there will come a day when I try to keep real plants alive, right now I have my hands full with 3 growing boys. As a result I have acquired a forest worth of faux’s to fulfill my vision of inviting the outdoors in, which I’ve been drawn to ever since moving to Houston. It’s so lush and green here - refreshingly tropical from other places I’ve lived.

I’ll post more about how to spot the good fakes from the fake fakes, but for now I’ll leave you with - this tree retailed for ~$1600 and I scored it for $75 on marketplace and I am obsessed with it… 🌿

When we first moved in I planned to make this space a library - a cozy spot for tv watching, separate from the living room we spend the most time in. This was my starting point and how it looked for ~2 weeks before I landed my job and reimagined it into an office. (Last picture is me sitting on a ladder prepping for interviews 😂) It’s had about 3 iterations of furniture since, but the shelves have remained decorated the same. Posting this to remind myself of where we started… will share the latest look soon! 🌿

We spontaneously decided to host a party, and I decided it was a good idea to restyle the shelves in our breakfast nook with T-4 hours til the start….

They had been naked for weeks between dismantling what I had before / what I wanted, and bugging me so much since we spend a ton of time in there… Nothing like a good deadline to light a fire…

The result is a combination of vintage finds, Amazon, At Home, and random things we had… In record time I had pictures printed, ordered a faux tree from HEB (of all places 😂) and chopped it up with fiskars to make work in that vase… which had also been naked/fugly for months…

Shoutout to baby Mavs for sleeping on my chest for hours, enduring my nonstop movement and acrobatics 🤦🏼‍♀️

The table was a marketplace find we had painted black, the chairs were FREE and unused from a vacation home the owners needed gone asap… the side board is an Italian antique. I’d love a sisal rug but my boys would destroy it instantly… New light fixture on its way, otherwise I think the space is done (for now 😉)!
