Today we closed on 5111 Westgate Drive in Shelby, and this closing was one that will stay with me for a long time. ❤️

I listed this property back in the winter for my client, Rusty, and his wife Mary. I’ve had the privilege of helping their family with several real estate transactions over the years, but more importantly, Mary has been a dear friend to me for a very long time.

During the process of selling their home, Rusty received the heartbreaking news that he had terminal cancer. In the middle of such a difficult season, the focus quickly became making sure he was cared for and that everything was in order for Mary and their family. Behind the scenes, we worked closely with Taylor Law Firm to make sure everything was handled properly so that if Rusty passed before closing, the property would not have to go through probate and create additional stress during an already painful time.

Sadly, Rusty passed away last Thursday.

While this process has been incredibly emotional, I’m so thankful we were able to make it to the closing table today and that everything came together smoothly for my client. The buyers were kind, understanding, and truly wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. I was also thankful to work alongside Jamara from Brittany Austin & Co. who helped make this transaction seamless every step of the way.

Real estate is so much more than contracts and closings. Sometimes it means helping people navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives with care, compassion, and support. I will always be grateful for the friends and clients who continue to trust me, even in life’s toughest seasons. Friends please be in prayer for my friend today and in the days ahead. ❤️
