This actually happened to me and my husband right here in Mooresville, NC. The insurance company our family used for over 40 years sent a letter of notice that we had to reduce the risk of our above ground pool by removing it or by building a fence around it. We removed it. They also had a couple other request that we also remediated to keep our insurance company happy. Didn't matter---the next month we received the letter that they were dropping us. No reason other than they were restructuring their programs and we did not fit into their new business model for our area. What! We had never even filed a claim. We were just like the lady in this video.. stuck with no insurance. And since one company dropped us it was like a blacklisting and no other company wanted to take us. We finally found another insurance company to take us without to much of an increase. But that is where I learned all of this info. the hard way and first hand. This is a great video to watch- to learn how insurance works and our place in their business model, and how you can protect your family. Even though it is talking about other states, it still can apply to here in NC. Pay attention to the part where they talk about what to do when purchasing a home. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Many homeowners in the U.S. are losing their home insurance policies. Major insurers like State Farm and Allstate are no longer offering new policies in Cali...
