Here's something nobody outside television knows: when a sizzle tape didn't sell, we didn't shoot new footage. We recut the same footage around a different message. Same people, same houses, same footage, different meal entirely.

That's exactly what happened with my client Howard. Same work, same guy. Just a different cut of the same story. His fee went from $2,500 to $15,000.

What footage do you already have that just needs a different edit? Curious how people think about this.

Now you know your number. Now you know why nobody's paying it.

Nobody negotiates with the only. So go be the only.

Anyone else been typing the "safe" number on a proposal for way too long? Let's talk about it below.

When a stranger can't rank you or describe you, they just don't try. They grab whoever they can hold in one sentence, and they feel smart for doing it.

So the person with half your results in one sentence beats the person with twice the results who takes a paragraph to explain.

When I left television, I walked into rooms where I was the best in the room. Nobody picked me, because I was a paragraph, not a sentence.

Have you ever lost out to someone less qualified simply because they were easier to describe? Tell me about it.

Here's a small assignment worth trying tonight: name the person in your space with half your results and twice the noise. Say the one sentence a stranger would use to describe them.

Now say the sentence a stranger would use for you, out loud, to nobody. If it takes more than one breath, you found the problem.

Somebody with half your results just signed your client. Not because they were better. Because they were easier to see.

Anyone brave enough to try this tonight and share how it went?

Try this tonight.

Find someone who doesn't have a stake in your answer.

Ask them to keep questioning you about your work.

Not just:

"What do you do?"

Go deeper.

Why do you do it that way?

What happened that made you do it that way?

And when you say something you've never said in a meeting, watch their face.

That reaction might tell you more than your carefully written bio ever could.

The thing that makes you different might not feel special to you.

It might just feel uncomfortable.

09/13/2026

Ever tried to figure out what makes you different and ended up with four generic bullet points?

You might not be the problem.

You might just be too close to yourself.

You've spent years inside your own work.

What feels interesting to someone else feels completely normal to you.

That's why sometimes the person who can help you describe yourself isn't the person who knows you best.

It's the person who can ask the question you weren't expecting.

What have you been leaving out because you assumed it wasn't important?

09/13/2026

You probably have a story you've told your family a hundred times...

But almost nobody else knows it.

Why?

Because you assume nobody would care.

That's the interesting part.

Sometimes the story you think is ordinary is the exact thing that makes you different.

So try this tonight:

Think of a story you rarely tell people outside your inner circle.

Then ask yourself why.

You might be sitting on something more valuable than you realize.

09/12/2026

Here's a simple question:

Could your customers explain what you do to someone else without you being there?

Because that's how referrals actually happen.

John became known for one specific thing.

Then someone at a barbecue needed exactly that thing.

His name came up.

That's the power of being specific.

You don't have to be known by everyone.

You need to be remembered by the right people for the right thing.

You can't watch yourself and be yourself at the same time. Those are two different jobs running on the same equipment.

Every actor you love has a director. Every athlete at the top of any sport has a coach, even ones better than their coach ever was. It's not that the coach is better; the coach is the outside.

Your remarkable thing feels like a Tuesday to you specifically because you're standing in it, and that's the hardest thing in the world to see clearly.

Who's your outside eye these days? Let's talk about it.

09/11/2026

I want to tell you about the room that broke this open for me. Somebody who didn't need anything from me kept asking questions past my resume, past the polished version of myself. Somewhere in there, I mentioned my grandmother and $2 bills, almost as an aside. Their face changed.

I would have gone to my grave never mentioning it in a business context, because to me it was just Tuesday. Just my grandmother.

The most valuable asset in your business is currently filed in your head under "not relevant." Find someone with no stake in your answer and let them ask you questions until you say something you've never said in a meeting.

What's the "Tuesday" thing you've never once mentioned in a business context? Curious to hear.
