If the Holy Spirit truly lives within me, why do fear, control, self-protection, and old ways of thinking still feel so familiar?
Many sincere Christians quietly wonder whether their continued struggles mean they somehow missed the Holy Spirit—or whether they would be further along by now if He were really present.
Monday’s paid Daily C.A.L.M. Devotional, A New Life Within Me, gently opens Romans 8:5–11 and distinguishes between being sealed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit and learning to live yielded to Him.
The Spirit is not a reward for reaching spiritual maturity. He is God’s Gift to those who belong to Jesus Christ. Yet being fully indwelt by the Spirit does not mean we are already fully surrendered to His leadership.
Together, we will examine the difference between living from the flesh—even when it looks disciplined or religious—and walking by the Spirit through dependent obedience.
Daily C.A.L.M. subscribers receive five deeper devotionals each week, Monday through Friday, woven into a connected journey of spiritual formation. The subscription is $5 per month or $50 per year for the first 100 subscribers. Join through the subscription link on the website or in my bio.

The Holy Spirit is not a reward for spiritual maturity. He is God’s Gift to everyone who belongs to Christ—and He teaches us to live from His presence rather than our own strength.
