If you’ve been on the soundside lately, you’ve probably noticed the growing piles of seagrass and maybe caught a whiff you weren’t expecting.

So what’s going on, and should we be concerned?

Join the Town of Duck and the Town of Southern Shores on Monday, June 1, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the Pitts Center in Southern Shores for a community seminar exploring the seagrass accumulation along the soundside and what it means for our coastal environment.

Featuring Sean Charles of the Coastal Studies Institute, along with a moderated panel of environmental and state experts, the event will explore what’s driving the accumulation. Southern Shores Town Manager Cliff Ogburn and Duck Planning and Permits Manager Sandy Cross will lead the panel discussion and community Q&A.

This is your chance to hear about the seagrass straight from the experts, so join us on Monday at the Pitts Center. See you there!
