The Story of Oh Buoy Oh Buoy

After my mom, Helen, passed away, my brother and I were tasked with finding someone who would love her home and gardens as much as she did.

For a while, I thought that person might be me.

But the longer I sat with that idea, the more I realized I wasn't trying to buy a house.
I was trying to hold onto my mother. The moment that became clear was the day I walked into the yard and noticed something was missing. Her Japanese maple tree.

Standing in the empty space where it had been, I suddenly understood that the house was no longer the house I was trying to save.

Not long after, a young couple we had met at a real estate open house bought Nanny Helen's House. It was there they started their family. A year later, they welcomed twin boys.

Meanwhile, Jason and I spent weekend after weekend searching for a place of our own. Open houses. Showings. Possibilities that never quite felt right.

Then one Sunday he mentioned a cottage in Chatham. We pulled into the driveway, and before I had even stepped out of the car, I said: "This is it."

I couldn't explain why. I just knew.

When other perspective buyers quickly walked in and out, we lingered talked about vision and possibilities...

As we were leaving, I looked up. Surrounding the cottage were four Japanese maple trees. 🤍
