August is in full bloom and what better time to visit with Aaron Summers, Director of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, and learn all about our very own "oasis on the high plains"!

A few highlights from our conversation:

🌸 The Gardens span 10 acres and include an indoor conservatory plus a Children's Garden, right in the heart of Lions Park.

🏛️ The three-story conservatory opened in 2017, and 2027 will mark the Gardens' 50th anniversary!

🌱 Their EAT Garden (Education, Agriculture, and Trial) sits on the old reservoir site downtown and is all about proving that Wyoming's tough climate is an opportunity for growing innovation, not a barrier.

🎉 There's always something going on, from summer sq**rt gun fights and the Heirlooms & Blooms Artist Market, to Día de los Mu***os and the Conservatory of Lights during the holidays.

🎨 New Cheyenne Spotlight is live! 🎨This episode we caught up with Georgia and Dave Rowswell of Open Door Studio & Gallery. What started as one woman asking “where’s your art center?” turned into an art walk that’s shaped Cheyenne’s creative scene for 15 years. The art walk happens every second Friday of the month.

Georgia’s series, Riding the Range, recreates the Wyoming landscape in mixed media, reimagining the pioneer spirit through old clothes and household textiles paired with maps showing exactly where each image was captured. Inside the gallery you’ll also find ceramics, jewelry, photography, prints, and a rotating lineup of guest artists.

Open Door Studio & Gallery is located at 1609 Central Ave, open noon to 6 most days (closed Thursdays, noon to 4 on Saturdays, closed Sundays). If the sign’s out, they’re in!

Just wrapped up the best time on the library balcony for the 7th annual WyoGives celebration, watching regional luchador Red Viper and crew take over the Laramie County Library parking lot! 🎭

It was a wild and colorful show, and also a great chance to celebrate Wyoming’s largest day of giving and thank the generous donors who make library programs possible.

Huge thanks to the Laramie County Library Foundation for putting together such a fun, one-of-a-kind night — and to everyone who gave through WyoGives.org today, your donations got an extra boost from the Hughes Charitable Foundation Incentive Pool. 🙌
