The future of farming is happening at 30 North LaSalle. A farm on the 18th floor of an office building might sound unusual, but it’s exactly what has been building.
The indoor farm has been growing microgreens, including arugula, red cabbage, mustard, and pea shoots, in a climate-controlled space that was previously used as traditional office space.
The long-term vision is to convert vacant downtown buildings into millions of square feet of urban farms. As demand for local produce rises, projects like this show how cities can adapt existing infrastructure in creative ways.
