One of my last projects of 2025, and also one of my favorites.

This basement bathroom had visible mold on the ceiling and inside the vanity due to poor ventilation. The space was stripped back, properly cleaned, and corrected at the source with a new, more effective exhaust fan.

From there, I added custom wall paneling and custom trim to warm up the space, refined the layout to make better use of a tight footprint, and took the extra steps to waterproof and mold-proof the room using Benjamin Moore primers and finishes made for high-moisture environments.

The end result is a cleaner, healthier basement bathroom that feels solid, welcoming, and built to last.

A Pantry Built to Last — Honoring a Historical Chicago Home

She wanted something clean, solid, and lasting—a custom pantry to match the warmth and care she’d put into her newly remodeled kitchen. Shelves that felt like they belonged.

But as I began framing it out, the space told a different story:
The floors were an inch and a half out of level, sloping across the room, the walls were two inches out of square, and the plaster was failing in places.

This wasn’t a simple shelf install—it was a rebuild from the inside out.

I squared up the walls with plywood, reinforced the structure, and created a true foundation to build from. Then I customized every shelf to fit the corrected space precisely. Over 500 pocket holes, carefully leveled cleating, clean trim work, and a durable finish brought it all together.

Her home is a historical Chicago home, full of charm and character. With every cut and adjustment, I worked to honor the craftsmanship that went into these old homes—hand-built, made to last, and never rushed.

She was thoughtful, patient, and clear about her vision. She deserved something that would hold up over time.

Now, the pantry stands solid and seamless—like it’s always been part of the home. Built with care. Built to last.

Removing Command Strips, nails, or picture hooks can sometimes leave small holes, peeled paint, or surface damage. Don’t worry—fixing it is quick and easy! Here’s how:

🔹 What You’ll Need:
✔️ Lightweight spackle or wall putty
✔️ Putty knife or old credit card
✔️ Fine-grit sandpaper (120-220 grit)
✔️ Damp cloth
✔️ Touch-up paint & a small brush or roller

🔹 Step-by-Step Guide:
1️⃣ Clean the Area – Wipe away dust and debris with a damp cloth. Let it dry completely.

2️⃣ Apply Spackle – Use a putty knife to apply a small amount of spackle over the hole or damaged area. Smooth it out so it’s level with the wall.

3️⃣ Let It Dry – Most spackles dry within 30-60 minutes, but check the label for exact times.

4️⃣ Sand It Smooth – Once dry, lightly sand the area with fine-grit sandpaper until it blends seamlessly with the wall.

5️⃣ Wipe Off Dust – Use a damp cloth to remove sanding dust before painting.
