Well, it's been an odd summer. Most lawns have gone dormant. Best option now is to "scalp" the lawn. Cut it right down. Almost to the ground. Then fertilize will a healthy dose of Nitrogen and w**d control like Prodiamine. With luck, we'll get some rain to encourage new growth before the first frost. It will look ugly but will really promote for a healthy lawn, either now or in the Spring. Good luck.

Spring is just around the corner. Now is the time to get that winter debris off your lawn. Hopefully you cut your lawn short last fall. It will help with spring clean up and allows the sun to warm up the soil. It stimulate the grass roots and kicks your lawn out of its winter slumber. If you cant get to it or simply don't have the time, give us a call. We'll be glad to help.

It's not too late. Now is the time. Time to winterize your lawn. Time to thrown down the last fertilizer of the season. For this late application you'll be looking for a high, at or above 30%, water soluble, nitrogen. Typically in the form of ammonia nitrate, ammonia sulfate, or urea. These are fast release nitrogens that will be quickly absorbed by your lawn and stored for next year. They'll also help protect from the cold temperatures and will be readily available when the Spring green up happens. That's right. This is essentially your first application of fertilizer for next year. Be aware that most of these need to be watered in so they don't burn your lawn. They should be applied when the ground is moist, not frozen, the grass is still green, not actively growing, but hasn't gone dorment yet. Be sure to clear any leaves first. You want the fertilizer in the soil. Not sitting on top of any leaves. Good luck, stay warm, and see you in the Spring.

Well, now is the time. Time to throw down some lawn food. With the hotter temperatures behind us (not that we had a lot of it). You'll want to get that lawn thick and green before we start the preparations for the inevitable. I'm thinking a high Nitrogen fertilizer like a 24-0-4 or higher like a 32-0-4. For those still dealing with w**ds you might want to even throw down a second application of Prodiamine. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out. Enjoy the mow. 🙂

Well, I finally got around to taking my own advice. Hydretain is down and mower deck lifted. Finally ready for the hot and dry summer. If it will ever stop raining long enough.

Well. It's that time of the summer when usually things are getting hot and dry. People start turning on the sprinklers to keep their lawn from turning brown. I have no idea what Mother Nature has in store for us, but I'm thinking of building an ark, if I could just find a tape measure with cubits. Anyway, if you want to prepare. Now is the time to throw down the Hydretain. Should things dry out it will help your lawn retain and utilize moisture better. Keeping it greener longer with less water. Don't forget to raise that mower deck. Happy Mowing. DLRS.
