Well, as property values continue to drop, so are the interest rates, even when it looked like they couldn't get any lower, making now the best time to buy a home. Even though values are down, eventually home values will start to appreciate again. A tip for homebuyers: Make sure that the home's size that you are about to buy will suit your needs for a few years until the market can get back on it's feet. Then eventually you will see your equity start to build slowly but surely. Look for more square footage in nice neighborhoods. Basement square footage is not going to get you as much money, when reselling, than above grade square footage. When finishing a basement to add more square footage, remember, an appraiser cannot give as much value per square foot than if you added an addition that is above ground level. Many people don't realize this when pouring thousands of dollars into finishing a basement. I hope you are having a great weekend. -Kelly Pugh
