The Lake County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously (5–0) to temporarily stop accepting/approving new proposals for data centers in Lake County.

Important:

* “Moratorium” means temporary pause, not necessarily a permanent ban.

* The purpose stated here is to give the county time to consider the effects of data centers on rural land, development patterns, infrastructure, utilities, traffic, noise, and residents’ quality of life.

Effective July 1, 2026 - A NEW - FLORIDA LAW - HOMEOWNERS & BUYERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

Florida House Bill 803 has officially become law — and it includes some important changes to building permits, inspections and HOAs.

✔️ HOAs can no longer require a homeowner to obtain a building permit as a prerequisite to the HOA reviewing a construction application.
✔️ Changes certain building permit timelines
✔️ Creates exemptions for some residential work under $7,500
✔️ Changes requirements for certain inspections
✔️ Establishes new rules for manufactured/off-site construction
✔️ Requires quicker responses on certain smaller permit applications

For homeowners, this could mean less red tape and faster decisions on certain projects.

📌 Effective Date: July 1, 2026

As always, specific projects can have additional requirements, so check with your local building department and HOA before beginning work.
