Momentum continues in Asheville’s River Arts District. 📰

The Asheville Citizen Times recently highlighted GBX Group’s partnership with the Foundy Team to help guide the recovery and long-term revitalization of historic properties along Foundy and Lyman Streets following Tropical Storm Helene. Together, the effort is focused on restoring these spaces in support of the artists, creatives, and local businesses that bring energy and identity to the district.

GBX Group is proud to announce a new partnership with Asheville-based development leaders Chris Eller, Eddie Dewey, and Brent Starck (the “Foundy Team”) to support the recovery and long-term revitalization of Asheville’s River Arts District following Hurricane Helene. 🎨🏛️

The partnership includes historic properties along Foundy and Lyman Streets and builds on GBX’s ongoing investment in Riverview Station - creating a coordinated arts-themed campus designed to support Asheville’s creative economy and preserve the district’s unique character for years to come.

Through this partnership, GBX and the Foundy Team will align expertise in adaptive reuse, placemaking, and community-focused development to accelerate stabilization efforts, tenant reactivation, and long-term redevelopment planning across the district.

GBX is proud to partner with local leaders who share a commitment to preserving Asheville’s creative spirit while investing in its future - proving that historic preservation can play an important role in recovery, resilience, and community growth.

A wonderful evening celebrating preservation, partnership, and the people helping shape the future of historic communities. ✨

Last week, our team had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Historic Columbia Preservation Awards alongside preservation leaders, community advocates, and project partners from across the region.

We were especially proud to celebrate the Pickens Street Cottages receiving the 2026 Preservation Award for Revitalization - an honor that reflects the power of thoughtful preservation and collaborative community investment.

It was incredibly meaningful to share the evening with the many individuals and organizations whose partnership helped bring the project to life, including Brennan Works, McGuinn Homes, Rogers Lewis Group, and so many others committed to preserving and revitalizing historic places.

Congratulations again to all of this year’s honorees and preservation champions and thank you to Historic Columbia for a memorable evening celebrating the impact of preservation!

GBX was proud to sponsor the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation’s Preserve Florida 2026 Conference, held last week in St. Petersburg, Florida. The conference brought together preservation leaders, developers, architects, and community stakeholders to explore the future of historic preservation across Florida and beyond, with discussions centered on adaptive reuse, project financing strategies, and the economic impact preservation can have on communities.

Fellow GBXers Antonin Robert and Jack Newton attended, with Antonin presenting in the session “Preservation Pays: Unlocking the Economic Power of Florida’s Historic Places,” which focused on how preservation-driven investment can revitalize historic buildings, strengthen local economies, and create long-term community value throughout Florida.
