Everybody's watching the Fed again — and this time it's the jobs report doing the talking.

Here's the deal: the latest jobs numbers came in negative, and that weak report may be the thing that keeps the Fed from HIKING rates in September. Yes, hiking — at the last meeting, three Fed members actually voted to raise. A soft labor market just took some of that pressure off.

So what does that mean for you here in Colorado Springs? Mortgage rates don't follow the Fed directly — they follow the bond market — but a Fed that stays put keeps the under-7% window open. If you've been waiting on the sidelines for a "perfect" rate, this is what the window actually looks like.
