Change those batteries once a year if your system is hardwired or every 6 months if not. The NFPA recommends every 6 months. I’ve felt safe with changing them once a year with my hard-wired system. Change them all when you buy your home and stay on a schedule that makes sense to you and your family. Every year on your home purchase anniversary, have those 9V or AAs and a ladder ready to go!
