Today we visited one of our favorite none profit organization's, Reclaiming Hope. Reclaiming Hope's main mission is to care for survivor's of s*x trafficking at the point of recovery, during restoration and reintegration by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Providing them with clean clothes, a safe and secure place to call home, education, jobs, and so much more.
S*x trafficking is a tragedy that is taking place every day all around the world, regardless of race, age, or material comfort. Over 300,000 children are exploited in the US each year alone. The average age when children are trafficked is 11-14 years old. In 2020, our local law enforcement task force in Colorado Springs conducted 180 investigations.
The volunteers here create what they call "hope bags" filled with items of comfort they will need when being saved. Victims have to turn in any items they have when they are recovered, as they are evidence to the case.
Hope bags are filled with things like clothes, slippers, stuffed animals for children, hygiene products, soft blankets, pillows for adults, and so much more. They also have mentor programs to aid the victims in their recovery and reintegration to society. Reclaiming Hope is one of a kind as they are the only none profit organization providing this care in the entire United States!
