Outsiders come to Colorado thinking the scary part is the mountains.
They hear “bears,” “wolves,” “mountain lions,” and “remote trails,” and suddenly they’re packing like they’re about to film a survival documentary at 11,000 feet. Dramatic music. Snowy peaks. One wrong turn and now they’re explaining their life choices to a pine tree.
But Colorado locals already know the truth.
The bear probably wants your cooler and some space. The wolf is hard to even find. The deer is just standing there looking scenic. And the mountain lion? Yeah, serious… but also not usually hanging out by the Safeway entrance.
But the goose?
The goose has jurisdiction everywhere.
You’ll be walking peacefully by a lake, a park trail, a golf course, or some fancy apartment pond with mountain views… and then you hear it.
HONK.
Not a sound.
A legal notice.
You look over for one second and there it is—wings out, neck forward, attitude fully charged like it just descended from the Rockies to handle you personally.
You didn’t do anything.
