5 things that surprise people when they move to Ponce Inlet & Daytona Beach π
1. Yes, you can still drive on parts of Daytona Beach's hard-packed sand β one of the last beaches left in the country where that's actually allowed.
2. The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Florida at 175 feet. Climb all 203 steps and you've got one of the best views on the whole coast.
3. Right where the Halifax River meets the Atlantic, you'll find a working charter fishing fleet and jetty park β a favorite spot for dolphin-watching and sunrise walks.
4. Even though it's minutes from Daytona's boardwalk and the Speedway, Ponce Inlet has stayed quiet and low-rise. No high-rises blocking the beach here.
5. In the cooler months, manatees cruise the Intracoastal, and several no-wake zones exist just to protect them.
