Do you know what deck ledger flashing is? Put simply, deck ledger flashing is flashing installed underneath building siding and over the ledger board in order to protect the ledgar board and home structure from water infiltration. It's a common miss (in new construction as well) and can be challenging and costly for builders to fix after the fact, as the flashing should lap under the siding material. What's a shrinkage crack? Bug eyes?

Found this shrinkage crack on my morning run. Yes, this is a commercial building, but this is still a good representation of a shrinkage crack in a foundation wall. Typically, cracks like this are not a reason to be concerned, but here are some other questions to ask yourself when looking at a foundation crack:
- Is the crack wider at the bottom or the top?
- Can you fit a screwdriver in it?
- Is the crack out of plane?

All things to take into consideration when observing concrete cracks on your own home or a home you're considering buying.

Permanently disappointed in the framer that held me and my somewhat new boot hostage in this attic. I could go in to great detail about what unbelievable feats of human strength and flexibility I had to endure just to free myself, but no one would care anyway. The buyer won't even know how hard I worked for them today, but you know who will? Jesus will.

Asphalt shingles aren't meant to hold or have standing water on them. If you're roof slope is between 2:12 - 4:12, special underlayment installation instructions are typically required. Anything under 2:12, asphalt shingles typically can't be installed.

If your low pitched roof is covered with asphalt shingle and you're experiencing leaks, this may be why.
