For too many working and middle-income Californians, homeownership feels out of reach — not because they can't afford a monthly mortgage, but because saving 20% for a down payment can be a struggle.

Prop 37 authorizes up to $25 billion in revenue bonds to provide down payment loans — up to 17% of the purchase price — to eligible buyers purchasing newly built homes, with as little as 3% down.

And importantly, it costs taxpayers nothing.

Spend a two-hour shift at the GLAR booth helping Angelenos find voter registration information, learn more about housing issues affecting L.A., and connect with the REALTOR® community.

And because it’s Taste of Soul, you’ll be doing it in the middle of a day filled with food, music, culture and community along Crenshaw Boulevard.

On September 18, the GLAR Region 1 – Beaches Advocacy Council welcomed Santa Monica Mayor Caroline Torosis to Santa Monica Place for a conversation about the issues shaping the city’s future.

Mayor Torosis joined GLAR Regional Advocacy Chair Ian Brink and Region 1 Chair Jae Wu for a fireside chat covering the future of the Third Street Promenade, preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games, business investment, homelessness, homeownership opportunities, a potential new version of TORCA, and ways REALTORS® can become more involved in public service.

Mayor Torosis also shared her support for Proposition 37, a C.A.R.-sponsored measure on California’s November ballot.
