No hate toward DIYers or the Brickhomehaven— but you can’t compare this to a professional installation.
The flagstone is being set directly on soil with no proper structural base. The fire pit isn’t close to round or level. And loose 3/8” stone scattered around a fire pit is a serious trip/slip hazard — especially when people are moving around chairs near an open flame.
That $5,000 wasn’t just paying someone to put rocks on the ground.
You’re paying for excavation, proper base construction, drainage, grading, precise installation, equipment, experience and a finished product designed to stay put.
DIY is DIY. Nothing wrong with that.
But it’s not the same product. 👊
